Introduction to AIDP
The need for a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) arose after the joint venture recognized the developmental needs of marginalized communities during their project. AIDP was conceived to continue addressing these needs, focusing on the socio-economic uplift of people living in poverty by strengthening their capacities, providing new opportunities, and developing local enterprises at the community level. The organization officially came into existence on September 5, 2016, after being registered with the SECP.
The Journey
The Aghaz Integrated Development Programme (AIDP) is a non-profit organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984. Its main objective is to empower disadvantaged communities, improve their lives, and help them become self-reliant. The organization was established as a result of a Joint Venture (JV) experience involving Hydrolink Engineering and Equipment Company Private Limited, Green Alternative Power, Haashar Association, and Zomo Ashro (AGHAZ). These institutions collaborated in the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa funded project “Construction 356 Mini Micro Hydropower Projects (MMHPPs) in Northern Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” specifically in Abbottabad and Battagram districts.
Activities
AIDP started its activities at the grassroots level, working informally with needy and marginalized communities in Abbottabad and Battagram districts. Over time, the organization developed its own system, recruited qualified and experienced development practitioners, and formalized its operations.
As of now, AIDP has engaged in various activities, including:
- Social/ Community Mobilization
- Training of Mini Micro Hydropower Projects’ Operators:
- Construction of 26 Mini Micro Hydropower Projects:
